Hi from Omaha!
Hello from the road! We're currently in Day 3 of our first Fall Tour of 2015, and after playing Gabe's (Iowa City) and Barley Street Tavern (Omaha), we're taking the day off to explore and get work done. We've had a blast so far, meeting a ton of awesome people, and discovering the music scene in the Quad Cities, Benson, and soon Kansas City, MO! Even though Edna (Charlie's car) doesn't have A/C, we've managed to keep cool with iced coffee and open windows offering the scents of the rolling Iowa hills.
Hey Sarah, what's the best way to tour? Well, I'll tell you: camping next to lakes, car rehearsal (mandolins are great for this), stopping at local craft breweries, and of course, eating well. For this, we recommend the Camp Cunningham Pita:
1 large toasted pita pocket
3-4 grape tomatoes cut in halves lengthwise
2 large basil leaves
1 mozzarella string cheese stick
1/4 avocado, sliced
Toast pita over propane stove, using your hands to flip it over the open flame. Not very safe, but we like to live dangerously. Lay basil leaves on pita, should cover whole surface. Add tomato pieces in the middle of the pita, followed by cheese and avocado slices. Drizzle Sriracha on top, fold up, and enjoy with glazed eyes and moans of pleasure.
